Over the past few years, the Darvel Music Festival has been receiving widespread recognition amongst the Scottish musical fraternity for programming exciting and often exclusive concerts at the intimate Town Hall venue. The organisers have continually strived to enhance the artistic content of the Festival concert series and in the past year have booked top international stars such as Eric Bibb, Hamish Stuart, Kokomo, Hamilton Loomis and Larry Carlton.

Guitar Giants Striking the right chord at Darvel! Following on from a successful weekend of music in May, the second round of shows took place on Friday the 19th of June and Saturday the 20th at Darvel Town Hall as part of this year’s concert series.

After a short break following on from a highly successful blues music weekend in early May, the 2015 Darvel festival concert series returns with a bang, on Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th of June.

The first weekend featured three great blues concerts. On 1st May the American Grammy nominated blues, roots and gospel flavoured Heritage Blues Quintet ably supported by the wonderful Jo Harman band wowed the audience and really set the scene for the rest of the weekend. The next night music fans got the chance to enjoy the amazing British Blues All Stars which included Pick Withers of Dire Straits, Dave Kelly and Dave Fletcher of the Blues Band and the ubiquitous Zoot Money. The band were supported by the raw rhythm and blues sound of Yorkshire based act TC and the Moneymakers and they went down a storm. The weekend ended on a high as the Festival audience thoroughly enjoyed a United Kingdom exclusive show from USA celebrated country rock/blues guitarist David Grissom (he has toured and played with John Mellencamp, The Allman Brothers and The Dixie Chicks), who gave a wonderful performance with his talented band. Support act Sean Taylor from London showcased his musical skills with his excellent musicians and the large crowd appreciated his dynamic fusion of blues and roots music.

The 2015 Concert Series kicks off in style with two Scottish exclusive and one UK exclusive Blues concerts featuring Grammy nominated US act, the Heritage Blues Quintet, the legendary British Blues All Stars (includes Dave Kelly of the Blues Band, Pick Withers ex-Dire Straits plus the ubiquitous Zoot Money) and finally from Austin/Texas, the fantastic David Grissom Band.
